We’re Peter & Leah Young—longtime educators and parents—offering practical coaching and school advocacy for families across the McLean / Falls Church area.
• Challenging behaviors at home or school
• Communication breakdowns between home & school
• IEP/504 and student support team meetings
• Transitions between schools, grades, or public/private settings
With over 35 years in education, we’ve sat on every side of the table—teacher, principal, and parent.
As parents ourselves—with a daughter in high school and a son in middle school—we understand how complex school and home life can feel. We’ve worked in public, private, and international schools, and we know how systems work from the inside.
Our coaching is practical and collaborative. We listen, help you clarify what's really going on, and then build a clear plan so you feel confident in your next steps—at home, with your child, and with the school.
Every family is different. We tailor our work to your specific child, school, and home situation.
Personalized sessions focused on parenting strategies, communication, and confidence building. We’ll identify what’s working, what’s not, and co-create routines and responses that fit your family.
Support before, during, and after school meetings, including parent-teacher conferences, IEP/504 meetings, and student support team meetings. We help you prepare questions, understand jargon, and leave with a clear plan.
Strategies for navigating challenging behaviors, big emotions, and family conflict. We focus on realistic plans that support your child while keeping the peace at home.
Guidance for families considering a move between public and private schools, changing schools, or adjusting to new expectations. We help you understand options and choose what best fits your child.
Start with a single package or build a longer-term relationship. All packages begin with a free consultation to make sure we’re a good fit.
Parent coaching is action-oriented. We focus on specific situations, skills, and next steps—how to respond in the moment, how to structure routines, and how to advocate at school. While therapy addresses deeper emotional or clinical needs, coaching helps you feel more confident and equipped in your day-to-day parenting and school interactions.
Most of our work is with parents. When appropriate, we may observe or briefly meet your child, but the primary goal is to equip you with tools, language, and structures you can use consistently over time.
Yes. For many families, having someone in the room who understands both school systems and parent concerns is invaluable. We can attend in person or virtually, help you prepare ahead of time, and debrief afterward so you leave with clarity.
That’s exactly what the free consultation is for. We’ll listen to what you’re navigating, share how we’d approach it, and together decide whether a package—or a lighter-touch option—makes the most sense.
“Peter helped us translate our concerns into clear, productive conversations with the school. We walked into our child’s meeting with a plan, felt heard, and left with next steps that actually made sense for our son. The support at home has been just as impactful.”
Share a bit about your family and we’ll follow up within one business day—or you can jump straight to booking a time that works.
During your free 30-minute consultation, we’ll listen to what’s happening at home and at school, ask a few clarifying questions, and outline some possible ways to support you. There’s no obligation to move forward.
If it feels like a good fit, we’ll decide together on next steps and which package (or custom option) makes the most sense.
